Me and my friends decided to go to Guimaras, an island in the Visayas. It is known as the Mango Capital of the Philippines. But, besides of its sweet fruit, the island is known of its mystic. Just like any other places in the country.
We stayed at the house of the relatives of one of our friends. It was situated in a secluded plateau, 3 km. away from the town. A rocky, steep hill stood behind it.
Adventure-seeker as we were, the very first minute we arrived, we decided to camp at the hill and stayed there overnight. It was a 20-minute climb and spotting ventures. At last, we'd settled.
As usual, my friends had liquors (I don't drink actually), we sung along with the guitar and talked until midnight.
Call it stupidity, we were unawared of the entities there. Except, I know myself that someone was watching us. I couldn't decipher her presence totally because that time my ability was just beginning to develop. It scared me, really. But I didn't told them because I know, i'll be scarying the hell out of them.
But I wasn't prepared to what happened next. The entity wasn't contented of just watching us, she started to announce her presence.
The guitar strings started to break one by one. Mimi, who played the instrument was wounded. We were frightened. Then, the bottles broke, as if a hand was tossing and throwing them. We looked at each other, perplexed. Without words, we hurried down the slope, leaving everything. I pulled MJ, my bestfriend, because she was totally shocked.
We came down and arrived at the house in just a matter of minutes. We were so scared that we never realized how fast we did that.
My friend's aunt asked why we were back. We just told her that there were mosquitoes at the top and we were uncomfortable.
The experience taught us that we should be more aware and respect the other world.
Believe it or not, it happened.

MALIKMATA Book Review: LUKOB by Rossini Cruz
Isang paranormal expert ang ina nina Malaya at Sita. At upang mas maging epektibo ang trabahong iyon nito ay tumira sika sa isang napakalumang bahay...
Nakuha ko ang kahuli-hulihang Lukob sa National Bookstore. Swerte. At hindi nga ako nagsisi. The story was simple but the way Rossini Cruz delivered it was applausable.
I was really a fanatic of the paranormal and I can say that how seances were done in the story was close to real. I mean, it suited the paranormal standards.
Two thumbs up!

Ghosts: What you should know
A ghost is a spirit that comes into a manifestation in ectoplasmic form. Ghosts are spirits trapped between dimensions- usually 3rd and 4th dimensions. Like every thing, ghosts have their own frequency signatures.
They use telepathy to communicate. Anyone who has opened their gifts (i.e. 3rd eye and other 6th sense) can communicate with them or use tools, like the Ouija Board, to manifest their presence.
A ghost usually comes for help and not to torment the people it visits. But there's some ghosts who come to make troubles - the Poltergeists. They are spirits of mischief and violence.
Ectoplasm is the substance that enables the spirits to reveal themselves physically to some degrees. Sometimes the ectoplasm can be perceived and photographed. But it is not solid in consistence rather more like a haze in density.
When photographed, a true spirit will emerge as circle rings of energy or takes another shape like spiral rings, an orb, a haze, rod or ribbon. It can also appears as a ball of light.
How to know if a ghost is present?
¤ There's a sudden feel of cold.
¤ There's a pressure on the head. Your crown chakra (brain) is ready to receive messages.
¤ Footsteps can be heard in the hallways.
¤ Low voices or muffled sounds can be heard.
¤ Objects disappearing or being moved.
¤ Lights are turning on and off at will.
¤ Pets, especially dogs and cats acting weird and restless.
¤ Dark shadows on the walls or stairs.
¤ You thought someone is calling your name.
¤ Appliances turned on and off at will.
¤ You have the impressions that someone is watching you.
¤ You smell something different. (e.i. Sampaguita flower that is associated with ghosts; calachuchi that is linked with elementals.)
¤ You suddenly felt strong negative emotions.
Ghosts have issues that need to be accost. Earth-linked emotions that should be released for them to drive to a higher level of the spirit realm.
Driving them away by exorcism will do them no good. We must help them resolve their issues or aid them to accomplish their unfinished business. In this way, they can be free from the chains that fasten them to the human world.
We need to regard them- the lost souls- their welfare rather than cling to our own fear of the unknown.

Astral Projection
Only when you sleep that you can do the astral projection. Well, it's partially true.
The truth is that some people can astral project naturally but some can not because of fear.
In Astral Projection. The concious mind leaves the physical self and moves into the astral body which is one of our subtle bodies.
You remain attached to your physical body by this so-called silver umbilical cord. It means that you are still fully aware of things you encounter along the way while out of your body. Again, some can perceive this cord and some can not.
Take note my friend, do not astral project when you are scared. Maybe you are not yet ready for it.
To do the projection one must feel totally relaxed and comfortable. You need to cover your body with a comforter because it gets cold when you travel out.
Here it goes:
¤Find a quiet place that is free of distractions.
¤Adjust the lighting and room temperature to make you feel comfortable.
¤Adjust clothing, footwear, etc.
¤Sit down or lie down. Find a position that best suits you.
¤Quiet your mind. Let go of doubts. Still your thoughts - do not fear.
¤Relax your body - your face, jaw, shoulders, neck... relaxing.
¤Your arms, your hands feel at peace. Your torso, your hips letting go. Your feet and legs totally at ease.
¤Focus on breathing. Inhale slowly...deeply through your nose.
¤Retain your breath as long as it is comfortable .
¤Exhale through your mouth slowly and completely.
¤Repeat for 2 more breathes or as it is convenient.
¤Let go of the fear of leaving your physical self.
¤Now, see yourself floating away from your physical body.
¤You may feel as released or hear a sound as you move away.
Remember: If you feel unsure or fearful about doing the projection please STOP. Maybe you are not yet ready for Astral Projection.

POLTERGEIST
What is a Poltergeist?
A poltergeist is a malevolent spirit of destructive behavior that harms people. Oftentimes, to the more experienced mind, this entity is attracted to negative vibrations.
How to drive them away?
To most people, when come to face with a Poltergeist, the only option that comes to their mind is Exorcism. Yes, it is an escape.
But, consider these:
We must treat the cause- why this entity act like that?- not the issue.
It's not the malevolent spirits that causing negative activities but it is the negativity that drawn them into us.
The cause stems from the negative energies being broadcasted by the person because of deep emotional issues that were not resolved. Therefore, we need to turn inside for changes that will negate the negative energies being broadcasted by the person. Very often, the person will not know that he/she is transmitting negative emotions because the transmitter is burried deep inside his/her own fear. Each of us acts as a beacon, sending forth emotional energies that either positive or negative.
Malevolent spirits who feed on negative emotions soon arrive to "stir the pot" and bring it to a boil. If we want to heal, we must forgive and forget and move on. We must forgive those have hurt us and let go of the pain to emotional harmony.
Forgiveness is the first step and letting go of the inner negative emotions is required for healing our inner being and turning off the beacon.
The key in removing annoying spirits is to remove the negative emotions burried deep within us.

Lurking In The Dark
This story was related by Myra, a friend.
Myra was a student in one of the acclaimed Universities here in Iloilo City. Being a Dean's lister, she used to study hard- studying her lessons every night, sometimes until past midnight with seldom recess.
Came a time for the Final exams, Myra was so anxious that she studied double time just to gain momentum because her grade descended the last term. And so, she stayed awake until 2 in the morning studying for tomorrow's sake. She would have not stopped herself if necessity have been considerate. There was no bathroom inside her apartment so she have to go to the end of the hallway where one was settled.
She got up and walked towards the door. But she was halted when she heard footsteps passed by outside. She thought it was Yam, the girl who rents the room next to her room, coming from her night shift. They were never friends because she thought she wasn't that friendly. Aloof to be exact.
Myra waited until Yam was inside her room but a minute had passed still she haven't heard a door was opened nor closed. She couldn't hold her call anymore, so she decided to go out. She'd just ignore Yam if ever.
What perplexed her was the total darkness of the hallway. Lights supposed to be on, right? She have a little discomfort about darkness and so she got back in and got a flashlight. This would help, she thought.
She trailed the hallway, closing the door behind her. The comfort room of the dormitory was five doors away from her room. She began to sang an upbeat song just to calm herself because the dark was beginning to get in her nerves.
Myra have done her business with much effort. She trailed the darkness again, but faster as she could. However, she stopped before she reach the 3rd door from her own door.
She felt as if a bucket of cold water was poured at her. Her skin tightened and the hair at her nape stood. She began to feel like her head was so heavy. What she had seen was the shock of her life.
There, in front of Yam's door, a figure was standing. Or might have been half kneeling? She could not decipher. All she could figure out that it was a woman-- an old woman in a ragged clothes! Her hair was fluttering in the air. And Myra could not see her feet. The woman was gnawing the doorknob with a child-like laugh, lurking in the dark. Shuddering her senses.
The last thing that Myra remembered before everything around her turned black was that the woman turned to look at her- "it" has no eyes!
Myra woke up and found herself at her bed. Before she could wonder, Brit, the lady disc jockey from the 3rd door walked in.
"Hey, so you're awake." Brit said with a smile. "What happened to you last night? We found you unconcious in the hallway. You know, me and Jane my roommate."
Myra was too sick to reply.
"By the way," Brit continued. "bad times. Yam was found dead this morning. Nightmare they say. But I think she's high. What a pity."
What she heard was too much to bear. She fell unconcious again.
